As a Classification Specialist, you will serve as an expert performing technical, complex and sensitive work in the areas of classification, position management and organizational design.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops reviews, analyzes and classifies a wide range of position descriptions in the General Schedule, Executive Service, Federal Wage System within an assigned organization area. Conducts position reviews and/or desk audits and prepares evaluation statements in support of final classification and FLSA determinations.
Provides guidance and advice to customers throughout various geographical locations. Because of the nationwide scope of the FPMI Classification Team, the employee will be responsible for classifying position descriptions in a variety of occupational series and grades and in consideration of the diverse organizational issues associated with each individual assignment.
Establishes a productive and effective working relationship with customers. Provides training, advice and guidance on classification, position management and/or organizational design to support and assist customers in their exercise of human resources management responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree with at least six years (or 10 years with an Associate's degree) of classification experience within the Federal Government and working knowledge of Federal classification and job grading systems.
Ability to maintain composure and confidence when faced with changing demands, priorities, challenges, obstacles, and crises.
Ability to use critical thinking to analyze organizational and process requirements to determine the number, type and levels of positions required; the effective configuration of duties and tasks; and reporting relationships among positions and organizational units.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Undergo a background investigation and favorable adjudication.
Examples of such experience are: providing expert advice and guidance to federal managers, associates, and other human resources specialist regarding position classification, organizational design, position management, restructuring, and the integration of pay/compensation.
