POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Data Technician will be responsible for the analysis and review of Asterand?s clinical Case Report forms to ensure that all records are accurate, complete, and verifiable from source documents. Responsible for the maintenance and tracking of both electronic and hard copy case report forms. In addition, the technician must be able to concentrate for long periods of time, have the ability to manage their daily tasks accordingly, and trouble-shoot issue that may arise during the analysis and review of clinical data case report forms. This position reports to the Director of Laboratory Operations.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage incoming clinical data from tissue procurement sites
Verify source data and documents for accuracy and comprehensiveness
Perform quality control checks on all incoming clinical data before materials are processed
Summarize pathology report information using a checklist format
Manage translation of foreign language pathology reports
Analyze and present monthly metrics for lab and QC departments
Assist in design and creation of electronic Case Report Forms (eCRF) documents for the collection of data
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIRED:
B.S. or B.A. in Life Sciences or equivilent work experience
Basic knowledge of anatomy/ physiology and medical terminology
Minimum of 2-3 years experience in data management
Proficiency in MS Office software programs (Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook)
Ability to use reference materials (dictionaries, encyclopedias, coding manuals, search engines)
Previous medical coding experience perferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires desk work for 6-8 hours per day
Position requires use of computer for 6-8 hours per day
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasionally required to work evenings and weekends
May eventually be required to handle human tissues (requires completion of Safety Training)
