Summary
Description
Assist with sample receipt, order entry and specimen preparation, sample collection, and other lab activities as directed by Laboratory Manager.
Support all lab operations and functions, including monitoring and requesting supplies and materials to place orders and maintain lab supply inventory.
Maintain specimen inventory and tracking system.
Recordkeeping and documentation to comply with QSR and corporate policies.
Ensure maintenance and calibration of lab instruments and equipment.
Clerical skills (typing, FAX, excellent phone skills, copiers).
Unpack incoming samples and ship products as determined by Laboratory Manager.
Utilize Laboratory Information System to assign accession numbers, enter orders and print instrument work lists or other lists as required.
Qualifications
AA degree in life science, or two years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Laboratory Assistant involved in specimen handling, accessioning, and sample preparation in a high-volume setting.
Excellent typing and organizational skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook, and previous experience with at least one Laboratory Information System.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines, good team approach, good written and oral communication skills, administrative skills, and above-average computer skills.
Good documentation skills and attention to detail are essential.
