POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Manager (CM) supports the education and training of Asante products to healthcare professionals and patients. As a field-based clinical diabetes expert, CM?s educate patients, physicians, nurses, dietitians, diabetes educators, and other healthcare professionals regarding the importance of intensive diabetes management and insulin pump therapy. CMs consult with patients, demonstrating the safe and effective usage of Asante?s products. CMs will assist healthcare providers in evaluating and managing patients? therapy once they start on an insulin pump to ensure positive outcomes.
The CM will work in conjunction with Territory Sales Managers, Internal Customer Service, Managed Care staff and Sales Management in order to meet the clinical needs in their territory for the purpose of safe and effective outcomes with patients thereby increasing referrals and sustaining patients on Asante?s products. They will assist Territory Sales Manager with regular product demos to patients and HCPs, sales events such as pump information nights, pump support groups, ADA walks, vendor days, etc. They will assist in collecting paperwork (Assignment of Insurance Benefits, Certificate of Medical Necessity, and Patient notes) at clinician offices. CMs will support key offices by providing education to potential pump patients and record all activity in an internal network (i.e., Sales Force tracking system).
The Clinical Manager will evaluate, train, and recommend Certified Pump Trainers (CPTs) who can bring value to the company through effective training, pump starts and represent Asante at meetings or conferences. They will delegate patient trainings to CPTs or conduct patient trainings preferably in group
settings based upon business needs of the territory while staying within budget set by management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to:
Assist in developing and implementing educational programs to deliver a safe and effective experience to patients and health care practitioners.
With the sales team, develop clinical sales training program to ensure consistent clinical messaging.
Collaborate with internal partners (sales, marketing, human resource, senior management) with a purpose to meet sales goals.
Contribute to and influence both the strategy and day-to-day management for clinical and sales activities.
Develop and manage relationships with key external customers.
Stay abreast of market, proactively advise senior management of changes, and assure communication throughout the organization.
Maintain good working relationships with the diabetes community ? physicians/diabetes educators and industry.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to maximize sales opportunities.
Develop and present at special events (i.e., support groups, health fairs, community education programs etc.) to enhance the education of customers.
Understand and present detailed features of company and competitor products to internal and external customers.
Apply information of disease state and products to help customers through purchasing process of insulin pump.
Develop call plans for clinical managers for maximum reach and impact.
Oversee recording of all calls in clinical reporting tool (i.e., Sales Force reporting system).
Manage all expense reports from clinical managers while maintaining clinical budget.
Support the Company Quality Policy and Quality System.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of three (3) or more years of medical device related sales or clinical experience preferably with insulin pumps or other devices in the diabetes arena.
Experience in the (early phase) start-up environment with successful sales of a product.
Thorough understanding of the diabetes and pump markets.
Knowledge of, prior interaction and relationships with, thought leaders and key practitioners in the diabetes and pump markets.
Demonstrated knowledge of and relationships with distributors.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and present at community and clinician educational events.
Strong analytical skills required.
Experience in managing and controlling a budget.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Licensed healthcare professional (NP, RN, RD, PA or Exercise Physiologist).
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or CDE eligible is required
