JOB SUMMARY:
This position will be a key PRN member of the clinical team supporting accurate and timely processing of Home Sleep Studies, Patient Education and CPAP Titration Studies. This position will support the Clinical Operations Staff and other departments as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following duties:
Supports the Clinical Operations team by assisting with Home Sleep Testing (HST) OSA education and HST in circulation patient support calls.
Will be 'clinical expert' in Obstructive Sleep Apnea disease management and understanding of criteria for different severity levels of OSA and educate patient and staff as required by SOPs.
Will be 'clinical expert' in treatment modalities for each severity level of OSA and will educate patients and staff as required by SOPs.
Understand importance of complete medical history, Epworth scoring, Berlin Surveys, normal versus abnormal BMIs.
Responsible for assuring patient confidentiality and adhering to all HIPPA regulations and patient dignity guidelines
Supports and provides patient instruction on use of in-home cardio-respiratory sleep studies.
Supports and provides patient instruction on correct use, time of study and amount of data required for successful in-home sleep study.
Supports and provides patient instruction on the use of APAP's, CPAP's and Titrations.
Creates reports, downloads data, and understands operational and physiological effects of PAP pressures. Creates Titration Reports following Clinician recommendations
Reviews NovaSom Home Sleep Test data daily following established QA procedure once it is uploaded to Meditrak and either marks the study incomplete or, if complete sends the data to the appropriate interpreting physician.
Tracks National Interpreting Physician report turnaround time and maintains communications with physicians for prompt turnaround time for interpretations for NovaSom Home Sleep Studies.
Keep all patient and physician / provider information updated in Sales Force system.
Assures accuracy and completeness of interpretations, identifies errors, monitors quality assurance of physician interpretations and provides completed reports to the referring physician.
Responsible for daily clinical tasks that may require administrative input such as reviewing orders for completion, assuring all faxes and or emails in the "daily inbox" are completed with successful delivery .
Supports sales, quality, and client experience departments as needed.
Performs additional functions as required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Must possess clinical / physiological knowledge of cardio respiratory system
Must possess knowledge of obstructive sleep apnea diagnosis, treatment and management.
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills with capability to conceptualize and develop policies, procedures and work flows.
Must possess professional image and capability to work with multiple inter-disciplinary departments.
Must have the skills to defuse escalated situations while remaining poised under pressure
Ability to prioritize needs and function independently
Must be able to multi-task well and handle changes in a positive manner
Must be familiar with in lab PSG and CPAP Titration
Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
EDUCATION:
Required:
Minimum of an AAS in respiratory therapy or related discipline.
Must possess either of the following active credentials: RRT, CRTT, CPSGT, RPSGT.
3 years cardio respiratory or Sleep Lab experience.
Must possess strong knowledge of evidence based guidelines on the use of CPAP, BiPAP, APAP and titrations and mask interface fittings.
Preferred:
Maryland State Licensure
Bachelors Degree in Science or related field
