Cloud Architect SunRun
The Cloud Architect will work collaboratively within IT, with application engineering teams and with business users and business leads to create physical and virtual server data center and cloud based infrastructure solutions. The candidate will leverage deep technical skills and experience with Linux web applications, networking, storage, databases and virtualization to design intelligent, highly available and optimized architectures.
The successful candidate will have experience building out EC2 based public facing and mission critical sites. Deep experience with EC2 or a strong desire to become a cutting-edge industry leader in providing and managing cloud based services will be essential. You will lead the sysadmin team to establish and improve lightweight but reliable processes for highly available deployment and change management.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical leadership in cloud provisioning, Linux, networking, storage and virtualization initiatives and platforms
Lead advanced projects to introduce and implement new technology, understanding the technology on an expert level, and how to optimally apply it to meet business needs
Provide technical expertise regarding integration and evolution of on-premise computing power, cloud based virtual private networks and cloud based Internet facing environments
Effectively communicate, consult, and interface with business users, developers and QA to design innovative infrastructure solutions and affordably meet business SLAs
Understand and perform monitoring, capacity planning, and configuration management and coordinate server growth and migrations
Keep pace with emerging tools, techniques, and products for cloud platforms and Linux based web applications along with a deep understanding of the pros and cons of introducing new technologies into the overall architecture
Be comfortable conducting meetings, and creating and presenting professional grade deliverables such as technical architecture documents, technical drawings, and presentations
Conduct project reviews, feasibility, cost benefit analysis, prioritization, initiation, execution for all project related work related to assigned programs and projects
Lead best practice adoption of methodologies in Agile IT and ITIL to ensure rigor in infrastructure design, implementation and maintenance throughout the IT organization
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor?s degree in Information Systems/Computer Science or a related discipline
Minimum 5 years of experience in supporting highly available, mission critical, enterprise environments
Minimum 2 years of experience managing and leading complex, mission-critical infrastructure initiatives in an enterprise environment
Prior experience programming shell scripts in Bash, Python or equivalent
Prior experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL database configuration, maintenance and replication
Prior experience designing and deploying solutions to Amazon EC2 highly desirable
Prior hands on experience with networking, storage, patch management, monitoring and automation
Excellent track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities
Ability to effectively perform cost benefit analysis, determine TCO, prepare and manage projects to budget
Ability to prepare statements of work, requests for proposal, and analyze responses from vendors
Independent worker with proven ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects in a demanding environment
Demonstrated experience working with software / hardware vendors and working with and managing outside resources to provide technology solutions
Strong interpersonal skills, communicates clearly and concisely in writing and verbally, knows how to navigate the organization to accomplish goals
Ability to interact across all levels of management
