Cloud Infrastructure Architect Ellie Mae
As a Cloud Infrastructure Architect you will work as part of a highly technical team of professionals who are responsible for all architectural design, development and deployment of cost effective and sustainable infrastructures to meet business requirements. Strong organizational skills, business acumen, technical expertise and attention to detail are key in this role. The Architect is also responsible to collaborate in cross-functional design and planning activities to ensure applications and services requirements are identified and supported.
This role concentrates on the design of platforms and infrastructures including servers, storage, workstations, middleware, non-application software, networks, and the physical facilities that support the applications and business processes required by the SaaS product and development specifications. Included in the focus areas is the critical evaluation and selection of the software and hardware components of the infrastructure. The Cloud Infrastructure Architect is also responsible for performance, availability and scalability of the infrastructure selected and deployed.
This is a hands-on position requiring expertise from idea and design through implementation and post-implementation support /maintenance. The position is also responsible for understanding industry standards and best practices, keeping current with industry trends and emerging technologies, and providing guidance and direction to the various development and business groups on standards that drive quality and performance.
As the Cloud Infrastructure Architect you have high-level responsibility for the design, development and deployment of systems solutions to functional customers to address their business needs. You will provide a leadership role on technical project teams and handle the most complex project management issues and technical challenges. You will also work with management and cross-functional peers on long-range projects requiring creative solutions. The areas of focus are:
Focus on the standards and technologies for enabling systems performance qualities, such as availability, scalability, recoverability, etc.
Evaluate and selects the enterprise?s server hardware, operating system, job control.
Supports the Applications architects in selecting the application framework.
Balances the quality issues cost vs. robustness, and hardware architecture, such as share-nothing n-tier vs. share-all symmetric multi-processing (SMP).
Monitors performance benchmarks provided by the Transaction Processing Council (TPC).
In conjunction with the SaaS Architect sizes the application and selects the hardware and configuration to use.
Participates in the drafting of Service Level Agreements (SLA).
Translates business requirements using complex methods/models to determine appropriate system solutions.
Work within a cross-functional team to provide technical expertise in the design and planning of system solutions.
Research, identify, test, certify, and select technology products required for solution delivery.
Maximize the performance, uptime, and supportability, Ellie Mae?s technology platforms, client facing and internal systems.
Establish and implement technology migration strategies for applications or architectures.
As the subject matter expert, provide management with status updates and recommendations; and strategy planning support.Provide mentorship and training of other associates at the same level or below on processes and tools; and handle more complex issues/requests.Develop strategies and roadmaps that span multiple years to align with company strategic initiatives and growth

Expert knowledge/experience in:
Public clouds and cloud technologies such as Amazon AWS/EC2, Microsoft Azure and OpenStack.
Backup, HA and DR solutions.
Security concepts and systems hardening techniques.
Industry standard Operating systems, Windows and LINUX.
Integration technologies (Web Services, REST)
Tuning Java applications, databases, and various infrastructure components.
Complex IT systems, data center infrastructure and software with a consistent knowledge of evolving and emerging technologies. D
Design, development, implementation and operational support of mission critical solutions in large scale environments and organizations
Solid understanding of technologies including:
Operating Systems and Hypervisors
Networking - TCP/IP, QoS, OSPF, BGP
Applications/Platforms ? ESB, JBOS, .NET
Extensive background in hardware and infrastructure, including relationships with hardware vendors
Ability to analyze and solve problems both independently or within a cross-functional team environment
Demonstrated ability to think analytically, organize thoughts and act strategically
Working knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies (TOGAF)
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and activities while maintaining a strong attention to detail
Knowledge of SaaS support frameworks and governance; SaaS billing / costing models and analysis.
Design Cloud architecture to conform to customer SLAs
Ability to learn new technologies and apply them to solving issues and problems within your area of expertise.

Education & Experience:
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical area or the equivalent.
15 or more years of professional IT experience in large scale, distributed environment with hands on experience in multiple technologies and multiple roles
At least 3-5 years of relevant experience as an Infrastructure Architect, preferably within an enterprise software company
