Job Description:
Gravitant is seeking a Cloud Operations Manager/Systems Architect to work with our innovative product operations team. The successful candidate will use their experience to manage and support Gravitant product (cloudMatrix, BusinessMatrix, etc.) installations and platform operations, as well as define and guide customers in application architecture and solution that are deployed into public/private clouds. Provide systems administration support and automation for Unix/Windows virtual machines in the cloud. This includes managing operating system installations and patching, application installations and patching (App Servers, DB Servers), managing network and VLAN configurations, setting up VPNs and security controls, managing backup processes and environments, managing systems monitoring and alerts, and supporting customer's virtual environments. In addition, the candidate should be proficient in Unix and Windows scripting to automate installations, configurations, and management of virtual resources in the cloud that support scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery. These solutions will integrate with Gravitant's on-demand, self-service applications for cloud management across multiple cloud providers such as Amazon, Terremark, Savvis, GoGrid, VMware VCD, Openstack, etc.
Responsibilities:
--Define, implement, manage, and improve operational support processes
--Manage work allocation amongst team members and ensure successful and timely closure of tasks & work assignments for a high degree of customer satisfaction
--Define and implement ops reporting and support dashboards
--Manage Platform operations customer support
--Design and guide customers in application architecture based on available capabilities of cloud providers
--Coordinate with customer on execution of these projects using cloudMatrix
--Install, configure, and manage virtual machine resources for the Gravitant cloudMatrix solution
--Configure and test security, scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery for Gravitant cloudMatrix.
--Support customer's cloud servers and environments with installations, configurations, patching, network and VLAN configuration, security configuration, db and file backups, systems monitoring, and alerts
--Monitor and report on availability of production systems
--Configure site-to-site VPNs for customer environments
--Automate operations management by developing scripts as needed
Qualifications:
Required
--At least 2 years of experience managing an IT operations team
--At least 5 years of experience administrating and managing Linux/Windows systems and environments
--At least 3 years designing or maintaining networks with Client to Site and Site to Site VPNs
--At least 3 years of experience with Unix/Windows Script Development with some Java Development
--At least 1 year of experience in LAN/WAN network configurations and firewall configurations with Cisco routers
--Experience in working with or supporting production, test, and development environments for medium to large data centers
--Experience in installing and configuring application servers and database servers
--Experience in developing scripts to automate software deployments and installations
--B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related areas
--Good customer communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
Familiarity with following tools/technologies
--Linux (Redhat Enterprise Linux 5.5, Ubuntu 8.04)
--Windows Server 2008/2010
--Cisco IOS routers
--Ticket support systems such as Remedy, Trac, Bugzilla, etc.
--Application servers such as WebSphere, JBoss, Apache
--Database servers such as Oracle, MySQL
Preferred
--Network Certifications - CCNA
--Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (SCEA)
--Experience with cloud providers such as Amazon, GoGrid, Rackspace, Terremark, Savvis.
--Exposure to OpenSwan VPN, OpenVPN, Cisco VPN, or other VPN client/server technologies
--Exposure to VMware vSphere/vCenter/ESXi environments
--Cloud security architectures and secure data transfer protocols
