Coding Coordinator Cogent Healthcare
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Cogent Healthcare is seeking to add a new Coding Coordinator to our Corporate Office team in Brentwood, TN. Under direct supervision, the Coding Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating daily care team activities including census creation, patient reconciliation, and work queue management.
Obtain list of prior 24-hour admissions from assigned hospitals
Print (or view) hospital Admission, Discharge and Transfer census and reconcile all patients against Capture Daily Census List. Update systems as appropriate.
Admit all patients (demographics) into Capture that appear on the hospital ADT list (if not interfaced)
Discharge all patients from Capture that appear on the hospital ADT list (if not interfaced)
Transfer bed assignments for all patients in systems that appear on the hospital ADT list.
Verify Place of Service, Admission Date and Discharge Date, as appropriate, for all patients.
Investigate and reconcile immediately any patient that appears on the Daily Patient List but does not appear on the hospital census.
Notify firstname.lastname@example.org and/or email@example.com of any place of service change or merges as appropriate.
Create, maintain and verify patient insurance eligibility as appropriate for assigned hospitals.
Review and correct any stay appearing in assigned BackOffice work queues.
Research new PCP?s and verifies phone and fax numbers then update tables in Capture.
Manage incoming medical records distribution via the dedicated fax per departmental policies and maintain such files per CogentHMG Record Retention Policy.
Request medical records as necessary to assist efficient coding.
Maintain provider signature logs for all assigned hospitals.
Secure monthly provider schedules for coding team.
Perform other clerical or administrative functions as necessary to improve departmental efficiencies.
Education, Training and Experience
1 (one) year experience in a related role
High School Graduate
Well-developed communication and influence skills.
Knowledge of and skill in using computer software with emphasis on basic word processing and spreadsheet applications in a Windows environment.
Knowledge of medical terminology is desired
Skills in operating basic office equipment (copier, document shredder, fax)
Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-task environment
Ability to adapt to change in a positive manner that exemplifies commitment.
Ability to identify emerging issues and communicate them to management.
Ability to work extra hours and put forth extra effort when needed.
Maintains strict confidentiality with regard to protected health information and understands and adheres to Cogent's HIPAA Privacy & Security policies and procedures.
