COLOR MATERIAL FINISH (CMF) MANAGER Belkin Corporation
What you?ll do
As a Color Material Finish (CMF) Manager, you will be leading part of the industrial design team, you will be asked to ensure that Belkin?s brand is recognized for innovative use of color, materials and finishes. Leading a team of CMF designers, working closely with Industrial Designers, Developers, Mechanical Engineers, Product Managers, Sales and Marketing teams, your skills are critical in making our products succeed by virtue of the sophisticated and fresh use of colors and materials. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of colors and finishes in Belkin's softgoods product lines, in collaboration with our overseas and local developers and merchandisers, as well as our engineering team. This includes products of various materials, including molded plastics, special coatings, woven fabrics, non-woven textiles, leather and other substrates as appropriate to the product.
How you?ll do it
Create Belkin?s annual proprietary CMF Story with mood boards for color palette, materials, applications/processes and graphic designs.
Prepare physical presentation materials that support the Color Story presentation, such as mood boards, material swatches, chips or samples, and will incorporate imagery that validates our product palette by example of trends in automotive, architecture, interior design, electronics, furniture, accessories, runway fashion and competitive products
Present CMF Story to ID, Global PM teams and retail channel partners throughout the season
Create photorealistic renderings of new finishes for marketing materials
Travel to China and other international locations several times a year for development and research
Communicate directly with domestic & overseas vendors to ensure high quality standards are implemented for CMF
What you?ll need
BA/BS degree in Industrial Design, Graphic Design or a related field.
3+ years of color, trend and materials development experience, primarily in the soft goods industry
2+ years of development experience with Asian suppliers
Strong, proven talent for graphic design of patterns and illustration
Proven ability to lead others as a supervisor
Deep interest in product development and the building of a world-class brand
High proficiency in use of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Excel, PowerPoint software
Understanding of textiles and softgoods/apparel construction
What you?ve done
Collaborate with cross functional managers (ID, ME, CMF, overseas design team, etc.) to maintain project flow
Research and understand current and advanced trends in fashion, graphics, design, interiors, architecture, pop culture, socio-economic, etc.
Support Supplier Quality Assurance teams with materials requirements
Research and review new materials, and help to make them available for product refreshes to help keep our product lines ahead of our competition
Maintain awareness of cost and development complexity
