Position Summary:
Marrone Bio Innovations is a venture capital-backed company in Davis, California, discovering and developing biopesticides for unmet pest and weed management needs in organic and conventional farming and water systems. We are currently looking for a COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT/TECHICAL SERVICE MANAGER in the western US to manage our commercial development program for existing and experimental biopesticides that are near registration and to provide technical support to our field sales team.
The territory includes Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and the Rocky Mountain states.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for planning, implementation and reporting of field studies in the designated geographic area.
Prepare and implement a rigorous commercial evaluation and demonstration program to expand the use of Regalia and new formulations of Reynoutria sachalinensis into new market areas including new target crops, new target diseases and soil applications.
Prepare and implement a rigorous evaluation and demonstration program for new biopesticides that are near commercial introduction.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key university research and extension specialists, Farm Advisors and County Extension Agents within the territory.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key research personnel of major crop production companies such as Grimway, Driscolls, Duda, etc. within the territory.
Prepares written and verbal reports including trial abstracts and scientific data summaries.
Provide technical support to company Territory Managers in meeting with key distributor/dealer and grower contacts.
Prepares and presents scientific data summaries to sales, marketing and regulatory teams
Assist in training Territory Managers regarding new uses of existing products and biological characteristics of new products
Provides technical assistance to Territory Managers regarding product inquiries.
Plans and leads tours of R&D field sites for both internal colleagues and external customers
Minimum Qualifications and Characteristics:
Minimum Ph.D. in Entomology, Plant Pathology, Weed Science or related agronomic field with a minimum of 4 years experience in the research and development of crop protection/technical product support.
Knowledge of crop production systems including detailed knowledge of insect pests and/or plant diseases and/or weed science.
A working knowledge in statistics and experimental design.
Interpersonal skills required to communicate, advise, negotiate or influence others as well as build productive working relationships in both academic and commercial settings.
Analytical skills required to interpret and summarize scientific data and information.
Planning skills required to organize, prioritize, schedule and coordinate work activities for multiple projects. Must be skilled in MS Office suite and experience with ARM8 is preferred.
This position requires significant overnight travel.
