Job Description
The Commercial Proposal Manager will work closely with both the sales and business development teams to provide business process and operations support. The Commercial Proposal Manager is part of the deal desk team which provides mission critical support in all aspects of the commercial proposal development process, including: pricing, bid responses, contract structure, business approvals, and training.
The individual will interact and work with Sales, Product Management, Services, Manufacturing, Legal and Finance in developing the commercial response.
Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Lead Commercial Proposal Management activities to develop winning proposal bid strategies from proposal submission to contracting. Serve as a trusted advisor to field sales on pricing, product configuration, and business terms to support the sales effort and understand complex sales issues
Act as the primary liaison with all cross-functional business partners involved in the deal process including finance, field sales, legal, services, etc.
Maintain a broad technical and commercial understanding of products offered by Silver Spring Network and its competitors
Analyze any feedback from the clients regarding a proposal response to further the sales and management teams? understanding of client/industry expectations
Partner with cross-functional groups to identify areas of process improvement, implement and document policies, best practices and training to help streamline and improve the deal process
Develop benchmarking analysis based on bid trends and competitive information
Develop metrics that can be used to help identify areas for process improvement
Special projects as needed
Required Experience
7+ years previous clean tech or utility industry, deal desk, Finance, or pricing experience preferred
Bachelor?s Degree in business, finance, marketing, or related field; MBA preferred
Technical background in product marketing a plus
Must be a self-starter, highly analytical, sound decision-making skills and the ability to operate independently while building internal teams and establishing positive working relationships
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to work well with sales as well as internal departments such as Finance, Legal, and Services
Intermediate MS Excel skills required
SharePoint and Salesforce.com experience helpful
Strong understanding of proposal development process
Ability to manage, motivate and work within project teams and in a team environment
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work within deadlines
Experience working in highly regulated and technology industries
Creative and innovative team player with a positive approach
Strong project management and organizational skills with a demonstrated willingness to take on additional projects and multi-task with changing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to envision the big picture while simultaneously paying close attention to details
Ability to motivate the team to maintain a strong sense of urgency and consistently produce high quality work
