Job Qualifications (basic job description):
Lead and manage productization efforts in Aurora's Research & Development Center (RDC). Serve as a bridge for RDC technologies between engineering (technical development) and monetization, either through spin-out, licensing, or in-house development.
Specific Responsibilities:
Manage and refine the process infrastructure needed to ensure transition of RDC technologies from development to product and continued revenue production. This person will help Program Managers develop commercialization strategies, business plans, and budgets that produce a clear-cut strategy for life after technology development. Identify outside funding sources, and provide supporting research for decisions on whether technologies should be spun out, spun in, licensed, or productized internally. Identify candidates both internal and external who can lead spin-out commercialization efforts and assist them in the spin-out process.
Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
Five or more years of relevant experience preferably in the aerospace or robotics industry and/or in a research-oriented environment. Demonstrated success in taking research and engineering projects and turning them into products or other new ventures. Solid leadership, and management skills coupled with personability are important. An ability to produce clear, concise, and timely reports and documentation must be demonstrated. Entrepreneurial experience (startups, spin-outs, etc.) is a plus.
