Common Sense Media is the leading independent nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families by providing the information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in a world of media and technology. We are growing and getting national media attention on a daily basis!
Presently we are seeking a Communications Coordinator to take on the day-to-day administrative duties of the Communications Department.
WHAT YOU?LL DO
Media Relations
Maintain press contacts database. Includes adding/deleting contacts, entering activities/notes projects for contacts, segmenting/building lists for specific projects
Manage distribution of press materials to targeted press lists
Track and capture media placements in print, television, radio, and web outlets
Prepare reports summarizing Common Sense Media's press coverage on a monthly/project basis
Maintain the Kids and Media News section of the website
Internal Communications
Compile the kids and media Daily Digest morning email using major news sources
Work with all departments to create the organization's biweekly internal newsletter
Other Duties
Complete various research projects for potential/upcoming priorities, projects, and events
Provide administrative support to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications
Other duties as assigned
WHAT WE NEED TO SEE ON YOUR RESUME (REALLY!)
2 years of relevant experience
Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or related field
Excellent organizational and writing skills
Comfort with media management database programs (Vocus, Cision, etc.)
Familiarity with technology, policy, parenting, and education press and reporters a plus
