Component engineers ensure specific parts used in manufactured products and systems are reliable and effective. Your work will involve the, research, development, compliance and design stages of Engineering as well as production support. May also be responsible for testing or installing pre-existing components, machinery or equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Interface with Electrical/Electronic component vendors to select/verify:
Electronic / Electrical Component qualification
Determine Lead-Time, Availability, and Pricing
EOL replacement selection (select Alternate Sources)
Maintains the Approved Parts List (APL) and(AVL) Approved Vendors List.
Keep Company/Vendor/Rep Phone list
Component level design of various Printed Circuit Board assemblies for Disk Drive Storage based products.
Electrical CAD Library management (Mentor)
Maintains component library
Bill of Materials (BOM) management
Assigns inventory part numbers
Schematic Capture of design
Coordinate Agency Regulatory (Safety) Compliance reports (UL, CSA, TUV ) for International and United States
Prototype assembly / Solder of PCBA?s
Resolve Engineering issues that arise with contract manufacturer?s.
Understanding of manufacturing mechanical and electrical systems
Experience in reading schematics for circuit designs
Familiar with industry standard electronic testing equipment.
Perform the reliability prediction (e.g.. MTBF) of board level design and reliability of component.
Perform Incoming Inspection / QA for Prototype PCBA?s.
Basic understanding of manufacturing mechanical and electrical systems
Expertise in mathematics and science
Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet tools
Execellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good organizational and project planning skills
3- 5 years of experience in Component Engineering
Manufacturing experience a plus
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or 8+ years equivalent combination of education and working within a design/manufacturing team experience.
