Aurora Flight Sciences is seeking an experienced Composite Technician II to join our growing team in Mississippi. This position requires an action and results oriented individual who can effectively achieve demanding development and production goals. This individual must also be able to interact and communicate at all levels of the organization.
Job Qualifications (basic job description):
The Composite Technician II under moderate supervision performs intermediate lay-up techniques to include pre-preg or wet lay-up, cutting, bagging, basic repair, autoclave, and / or trimming operations. This role must be able to demonstrate an understanding of how work orders, blueprints, and lay-up charts ensure the quality of the product and provide suggestions on improvements. Must also be able to work with majority of the shop tools and equipment used in composite layup and assembly as well as demonstrates the ability to perform in a team environment and exhibit a willingness to ?do what it takes? to ensure customer expectations are exceeded.
Builds composite components for air vehicles using appropriate lay-up techniques
Handling, mixing and applying various resin/catalyst materials
Operates a broad variety equipment for cutting, kitting and assembly of materials to include machines requiring understanding of computer software technology
Uses hand/power tools in a safe and efficient manner in order to shape and form simple and complex components
Prepares composite components for curing process in autoclave and/or oven by applying proper vacuum bagging methods and procedures
Complete self-verification procedure on work orders and other related/required documents
Ensure parts meet all quality standards and guidelines prior to presenting for inspection
Perform simple composite repairs when needed
Maintains a neat and orderly work area, supports the company FOD (Foreign Object Damage) prevention program and complies with all safety regulations
Demonstrates the capacity to learn to read and interpret blueprints and selected GAC standards. (GAMPS, MEPS, GER).
Must be able to perform math computations, to include adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
Demonstrates the capacities to learn and successfully pass a skills evaluation to include a basic composite lay-up / trim test for LEVEL I and composite lay-up/repairs for LEVEL 2
May work any shift and or overtime
Comply with good housekeeping, quality, FOD, and safety procedures
Supports other Aurora Flight Sciences sites as required
Performs other tasks as required by site leadership
Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
High School Graduate or GED
2-8 years of related composite experience necessary to include performing simple composite repairs.
Ability to use computers and equipment which utilizes computer software technology for composite lay-ups and assembly
Must be demonstrate ability to apply basic math, locating information and reading comprehension skills to the work environment by obtaining Silver level on Work Keys assessment.
Additional Preferred Qualifications (education and experience):
Completion of an Advanced Composite Repair training class or
Advanced 2 year vocational, technical and/or military technical schooling certifications in manufacturing or related field
Able to lift and transport objects up to 40 pounds as well as consistently stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb and kneel
Shift Requirements (specify if irregular work hours or shift work will be required):
Day shift with flexibility to work extend hours or other shifts as needed
