Computer Integrated Manufacturing Engineer nLight Photonics

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and managing software and applications that directly interface with and control equipment and instruments in the manufacture of high power lasers. The breadth of responsibility requires the ability to solve day-to-day problems in support of nLIGHT's engineering teams and capital equipment. This is a growth opportunity within a new internal group, and is an ideal fit for a team-oriented, self-directed person with ambition and initiative.

• Establish effective communication with other departments in order to ensure that projects are completed in a timely and effective manner.
• Thoroughly document software design, execution, and end-user instructions in order to implement required Business Processes.
• Establish and document software design standards including abstraction, design patterns, and change control.
• Implement standard equipment interface protocols for enterprise equipment control and data acquisition.
• Manage projects and budgets associated with software development and licensing.
• Develop standardized reporting tools for the extraction and presentation of information from equipment and manufacturing databases.
• Design and test interfaces between ERP, manufacturing, and equipment data collection systems.

Qualifications

• BS in Software Development or equivalent.
• Three years or more developing equipment software.
• Direct experience programming C/C++, Visual Basic, .NET, and/or LabVIEW.
• Ability to write SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from mainstream, enterprise databases.
• Familiarity with reporting tools such as SQL Server Reporting and MOSS Reporting Services.
• PLC and OPC experience is preferred.
• SCADA experience is preferred.
• Experience with ERP, especially Microsoft Dynamics AX, is preferred.
