Job Summary
Reporting to the Sr Director of Quality Assurance, the Configuration Management Specialist drives proposed changes of product designs to determine the overall effect on system documentation and coordinates the recording of modifications for management control.
Essential Functions
Drive the Configuration Management process including Engineering Change Orders, Engineering Change Requests and Temporary Deviations related to components, firmware, software, specification control drawings, quality system documentation, and product documentation in accordance with configuration management practices and procedures.
Communicate and coordinate changes with engineering, production, sales and quality departments.
Utilize the ERP system to reproduce engineering and manufacturing documentation, such as drawings, bills of materials, parts lists, specifications and engineering change orders.
Verify that proposed changes conform to configuration management interchangeability rules.
Verify integrity/accuracy of data input into Epicor/Vantage and that all documentation meets established quality standards.
Generate and monitor implementation plans for all applicable change activity.
Responsible for coordination of Change Control Board (CCB). Process changes through the Change Control Process and monitors implementation plans related to the changes.
Ensure that master drawing files and history files are accurate and current, and that effective control is maintained for product documentation, product datasheets and other document records.
Perform configuration status accounting and configuration verification audits to check that the data being used on production floor is consistent with the released product data.
Assist auditors to audit the activities of Configuration Management for external regulations or procedural guidelines such as ISO-9001 standards.
Participate proactively to propose solutions for process improvement.
Qualifications
Education
Associates degree in business or related field minimum, or equivalent work experience in configuration management.
Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years experience in the area of configuration management or document control in a manufacturing or Engineering To Order environment preferred.
This position could also work well for a recent graduate in Math, Science, Engineering, or Accounting field with an aptitude for logic, asking questions, and who is meticulously detailed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge in the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Access.
Computer literate with recent experience in the use of ERP and product data management programs such as Epicor/Vantage or Agile.
SolidWorks / PADS experience preferred.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and still have fun.
Ability to adjust to changing requirements with a smile.
Strong analytical skills for effective problem solving.
Excellent written and verbal communication; as well as effective and efficient use of email.
Ability to grasp issues quickly and make educated, critical judgment decisions.
Strong professional presence within a casual working environment.
