Blu Homes is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Construction Manager, based in its factory in Vallejo, California, and reporting directly to the Director of Projects. The new Construction Manager will oversee, manage and execute residential construction projects from start to finish, including sub-contractor selection and performance management, customer/client management (customer expectations, timelines and explanation of scope of work) and client relations which build positive relationships with clients. Very strong organization, construction management, communication and scheduling skills are essential to the position. Blu Homes is a fast growing innovative technology startup aiming to change landscape of the housing market with best-in-class precision built green houses. Using a uniquely integrated business model, and deeply proprietary information and building science technology, Blu empowers homeowners to design their homes with a free online 3-D configurator. The houses then are built in a Blu factory using a proprietary steel framing system that offers unique beauty, environmental performance and strength, delivered to sites nationwide, and finished by Blu teams. Ultimately, Blu?s mission is to provide home buyers and institutions worldwide with green buildings that are high quality, healthy, beautiful, and economical.
Key Responsibilities:
Performing client site visits and assessments;
Managing project scheduling and budgeting;
Interacting with local building and planning departments;
Overseeing permitting processes;
Managing local contractors.
Key Requirements:
Strong construction management skills; timeliness, organized, and high attention to detail;
Ability to coordinate local permitting process;
Independent and strong work ethic ? ability to manage various projects effectively and simultaneously;
Dedication to completing projects on schedule, on budget and to customer expectations;
Personable, friendly, and down to earth manner;
Deep interest in being part of a high tech green homes startup team and culture;
Analytical approach & intellectual curiosity;
Collaborative team player;
Handles difficult situations in a relaxed and proactive way;
Self-confidence, tact, and respectfulness in dealing with clients;
Equally comfortable in business casual attire or construction overalls.
Experience:
10+ years working experience; relevant work experience in construction management as an on-site project manager or GC.
Have or able to obtain Maryland GC License.
Minimum BS degree in engineering such as civil, mechanical, structural and/or similar.
Residential construction experience is a plus.
Compensation: Salary based on experience, plus stock options, and benefits package.
