This person will be responsible for supporting consumables R&D and product development tasks. In particular (for at least 3 to 6 months), this position will be focused on custom consumables (i.e., microfluidic chips, PCR tube caps, test reagents and emulsions) required for the RainDrop digital PCR system.
Execute hands-on experiments using microfluidic components and commercial or custom instrumentation and software.
Analyze raw data and compile results for discussion and review.
Produce documentation related to consumable products.
Apply efficiency and organization to execute series of experiments designed to develop, verify, or validate performance, reliability, and shelf-life of various consumables components.
Occasional support of other R&D or manufacturing activities as dictated by company needs.
Receive instructions and report results and observations to Research Engineer responsible for consumables research and product development.
Receive instructions and training/feedback on documentation procedures and structure from the Product Development and Quality organizations.
Contribute to general laboratory organization and safety.
Coursework and progress towards a BS or BA in Chemical, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Enthusiasm, experience, and demonstrated skills and aptitude for conducting hands-on tasks related to microfluidics or scientific instrumentation and consumables.
Strong organization and task-planning skills.
Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Enthusiasm and ability to overcome technical challenges in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary, commercial environment.
Self-starter who requires minimal supervision to be productive.
Interest in a career path related to the life sciences instrumentation / technology industry.
