Content Analyst Medical Present Value

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

This person has responsibility for creating and maintaining Excel data tables for use in a medical software program, Phynance. Focus, accuracy and timeliness are paramount.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Director, Reimbursement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Locate and research Local Coverage Determination policies for Medicare.
- Extract coverage positions and medical necessity coding combinations from commercial carriers policies.
- Create and maintain excel data tables using policies CPT and ICD9s.
- Periodic review of Medicare and commercial carrier websites.
- Research carrier newsletters for revisions or additions.
- Comparison of existing and updated Medicare and commercial fee schedules.
- Review of claims for verification of policy accuracy.
- As needed, research state specific Medicaid and Workers Compensation rules and schedules.
- As needed, attend and participate in internal and client meetings.
- Reports to Director, Reimbursement under daily direction of Senior Content Analyst.

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree or greater in related field, or equivalent education and experience.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

- Minimum of 3 years experience working in the healthcare industry.
- Familiarity with Medicare and commercial insurance policies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy required.
- Strong skills in database platforms (Excel, Access, etc.).
- Works well in a team oriented structure to achieve goals.
- Basic understanding of CPT and ICD9 coding.
- Basic understanding of various reimbursement methodologies (including Medicare, St. Anthonys RBRVS and McGraw-Hill RVS).
- Can work without supervision and can meet short deadlines.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office work environment.
