Content Marketing Manager
As the Editorial Content Manager at Operative, you will take charge of an exciting new chapter in the company?s quest to becoming an established thought leader in the digital media industry and the destination site for premier expert content. By collaborating with Operative?s key executives, you will be responsible for building Operative?s content marketing program and developing the voice for all aspects of the company?s online presence. In addition to managing production schedules, and writing, editing and proofreading site content, case studies, white papers, sales collateral, product specifications, etc., you will work closely with Marketing?s operations team to maintain site standards with regard to new development. You will also be responsible for working with the Marketing team to promote and expand readership by incorporating new content into online outreach campaigns.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop Content Strategy and Editorial Calendar ? Combining an understanding of the audience?s content needs with the organization?s broader strategic goals, develop and optimize a content strategy that delivers quality content at the right time.
Survey prospects and clients and engage internal stakeholders to develop, validate, and optimize an editorial calendar
Leverage best-practices to inform (and test on an ongoing basis) optimal content delivery frequency as well as content subjects
Establish metrics by which to evaluate success (e.g., subscriptions, site traffic, downloads)
Present and periodically communicate content strategy to key stakeholders (e.g., executives, contributors, Marketing team) to ensure alignment on goals/objectives, approach/process, and promotional activities
Managing the Editorial Calendar ? Work with appropriate stakeholders (internal and external content contributors) to ensure the Editorial Calendar is executed as planned.
Oversee multiple projects which involve stakeholders across the organization and/or external guest contributors
Ensure timely, quality content is delivered
Contribute original content
Maintaining Site Standards ? Work with Marketing?s operations team to maintain site best practices and ensure back-end infrastructure supports and integrates with new content channels
Leverage site analytics to optimize site design and content layout
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years experience managing online content and production; experience leading writing staff preferred
Bachelor?s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, Marketing, or a related field
Strong creativity and passion for creating responsive, original and interesting content
Proven editorial skills ? outstanding command of English and experience writing; content/copy editing skills
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and third parties
Strong leadership and project management skills ? must have high level of initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Experience with HTML and popular content management systems, familiarity with basic SEO practices and keyword search, and knowledge of New Media preferred
