Etsy seeks a versatile writer-editor who will provide Etsy sellers with the latest and greatest information about tools and resources for growing their businesses. We're looking for a tech-savvy content producer and editor with attentive listening skills, strong reporting chops, and creative problem-solving capabilities. In particular, we're seeking a scribe who's adept at writing succinct informational blurbs, snappy headlines, and educational blog posts. You must have at least three years of experience working as a professional writer-editor.
About the Seller Development Team
Part of Etsy's larger Member Operations Team, Seller Development is at the front lines of developing content and programs that empower our 900,000 active sellers to successfully run their businesses. We use many delivery methods to provide educational content--from blog posts, to webinars, to in-person workshops--and aim to cultivate sustainable businesses by promoting peer-to-peer education. Our integrated approach to learning engages our community no matter what stage of their business development.
The Seller Development Content Team supports many of Etsy's goals to communicate with our sellers about product developments, business advice, seller stories, and inspiration. We are flexible and work cross-functionally with other departments with the common goal of serving Etsy sellers.
About the position:
You'll work closely with a Content Strategist/Manager, an Editorial Coordinator, and a growing team of Seller Development Specialists to develop winning content that coaches sellers to increased success on Etsy. You will also:
- Communicate with a variety of stakeholders, including Etsy sellers, web developers and product marketing managers.
-Manage and produce content for a twice weekly e-mail newsletter for Etsy sellers.
-Copy edit ad hoc emails, presentations, curricula, and proposals for various team members.
-Help with updating archived content
-A strong editor who's a stickler about catching spelling and grammar errors.
-Organized (i.e., you're a fan if Google Docs, Google Calendar, and Excel).
-A proficient self-manager.
-A collaborative and creative self-starter who responds well to constructive criticism.
-Familiar with a common editorial style guide, such as Chicago Manual of Style or Associated Press Style.
-A highly organized, data-driven thinker who loves documentation.
-Experienced with a common CMS, such as WordPress.
-Extra credit if you're and Etsy seller or buyer, possess and entrepreneurial background, and are skilled at editing photos in Photoshop.
