Position Background ? This is a unique opportunity to leverage software skills to materially impact climate change by working with a company that harnesses the power of software to make possible solar power generation on massive, world-wide scale.
Job Purpose ? Develop industrial strength process control software to operate and maintain utility-scale solar power plants and industrial solar thermal facilities.
eSolar is a developer and provider of key enabling technology for large utility-scale solar thermal power plants. The unique approach is to use small, modular solar tracking heliostats (mirrors) in solar plants for electricity production, industrial heat and other uses. In addition, the eSolar solution leverages high volume production methods, leading edge controls software and agile design methods to achieve great reliability, lowest cost, and global supply. eSolar has partnered with GE and with other companies around the world to enable complete project capabilities, ranging from technology development and component manufacturing to solar power plant construction and operation. eSolar?s corporate headquarters are located in Burbank, California.
Key Position Accountabilities:
Software Development ? Software design and development related to eSolar?s revolutionary solar field control software system.
Technology Innovation ? Develop new control algorithms to improve the automation of solar field operation.
Bachelor degree in engineering, physics, math, or computer science.
. 6+ years of professional software development experience utilizing C#, C++, SQL, and processes and tools on the Windows platform, such as Visual Studio, SQL Server, and TFS.
3+ years of professional software development of distributed control systems (DCS), SCADA systems, or other industrial process control software systems.
Strong multi-year experience in multithreaded development and distributed computing.
Experience in industrial process control operation, automation, and engineering.
Experience with project application engineering with thermal power.
Software development and/or integration experience with CMMS systems.
Software development experience with high availability/mission-critical systems.
