POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controller reports to the CFO and is responsible for all accounting, control, and reporting systems and processes within the Company. They lead a team of accounting professionals who are responsible for cash forecasting and management, including banking relations, and for all tax operations and filings. The Controller is responsible for understanding, interpreting, and advising on software revenue recognition and other financial issues and is expected to actively participate in and advise on acquisitions. Close coordination on transactions, reporting, and analysis will be a key area of value-add. The selected candidate will have a demonstrated level of business acumen, possess strong analytical, systems and communication skills, and be capable of working successfully with individuals and teams throughout the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversee the month-end close in accordance with GAAP including reports for internal senior management team
Management of Finance/Accounting Team of 6 employees
Oversee financial audits, tax filings, and treasury functions
Work closely with functional leaders to create and monitor budgets
Build and maintain reports on key business metrics
Perform FAS123R calculations and maintain cap table
Management of tax and reporting requirements for the Canadian and UK subsidiaries
Assist with researching and implementing appropriate back-office systems to allow for efficient scalability
Assist CFO on special projects such as M&A and other important initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/BA in Accounting and CPA required
10 years of practical hands-on experience preferably in a fast paced business environment, including 4+ years of management experience
Experience consolidating international subsidiaries, preferably with Canada
Proficiency in Software and Service revenue recognition
Advanced Excel skills with ability to create and analyze financial models
Experience in Softrax Great Plains, Intaact, Netsuite, or similar general ledger system
Experience with OpenAir, Adaptive Planning, and Salesforce.com
Prior experience in project managing migrations and/or implementations of financial reporting or related back-office systems is a strong plus.
