This hands on position will be responsible for all day to day accounting operations. These include invoicing, managing accounts receivable and payable; producing monthly financial statements and reconciliations; overseeing and improving accounting processes and systems; and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Excellent organizational and communication skills and follow-through are required. The person assuming the Controller role will work closely with the CFO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage daily operations of all accounting functions including, but not limited to, AP/AR, invoicing, bank reconciliations and GL oversight:
Direct supervisor of accounting staff.
Ensures accurate and timely processing and managing of accounts payable, employee expense reports, cash control, invoicing, fixed assets, etc.
Establishes and maintains systems and controls to verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data ;
Reviews balance sheets, operating income, expense accounts, and loan documentation for financial institution;
Maintains a system of controls over all accounting transactions;
Performs general ledger management (including month-end close and account reconciliations);
Prepares monthly financial statements to management team.
Manages external tax accountant for federal income and state and local tax compliance;
Provides information to external auditors for annual audit (February 2014);
Fixed asset accounting (upgrade to new system);
Protects financial information and plans confidential;
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results on a monthly and quarterly basis;
Assists CFO with new ERP solution for the Company;
Minimum Skills, Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree required. Accounting/Finance or equivalent;
CPA/Audit experience preferred, 5+ years of progressive experience;
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
Proficiency in accounting software and tools (Excel, Quickbooks (current system);
Experience in new ERP implementation;
Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately;
Strong self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and with a team;
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
