Position Summary:
The Controller will report to the Vice President, Finance and be responsible for overseeing the
Company?s accounting functions, including external reporting, month-end close, payroll administration,
stock administration, fixed assets, accounts payable, revenue accounting, billing and accounts receivable
services, banking, tax and other accounting related activities. This position will ensure compliance and
reporting requirements are met. The Controller will be the primary focal point for ensuring the
accounting department serves the accounting needs of the overall company and various operating
groups within the organization, strategic partners, investors and lenders. The Controller will work
closely with management to provide general direction for various accounting policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
? Review and approve monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reporting in
accordance with GAAP
? Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting is conducted on a timely basis
? Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the set-up of an organizational
structure adequate for achieving the department?s goals and objectives
? Responsible for Stock option and award accounting and oversight of equity administration
? Support and manage external audit (E&Y) and tax compliance work, providing outside tax preparers
with accounting information on a timely basis for income provisions and tax returns.
? Oversee the external billing and receivables services department
? Aid in production of the annual budget and forecasts.
? Implement and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures
? Identify opportunities to increase efficiencies and improve processes
? Maintain internal controls for key processes ensuring all financial reporting controls are operating
effectively
? Manage financial information systems monitoring and controls (Quickbooks)
? Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
? Degree in Accounting (undergraduate or Masters)
? 8+ years of increasingly responsible accounting experience
? 4+ years management experience is required.
? Molecular diagnostic industry experience a plus
? Strong accounting and tax skills
? CPA preferred
? Proficiency in accounting software
? Thorough knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
? Proven ability to effectively plan, organize and complete multiple complex activities, priorities and
assignments on a timely basis
? Excellent technical research, strong analytical ability, and the ability to identify and resolve problems
with sound and accurate judgment
? Ability to work both independently and within a team environment. Must be prepared to work
additional hours in order to meet monthly, quarterly and annual close deadlines
? Must have demonstrated hands-on execution skills
? Excellent written and oral communications skills are also required
? Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the organization is a must
