THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Nanosys is looking for an experienced controls and instrumentation engineer who will design and build Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) as well as Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems that will drive and monitor custom built Quantum Dot manufacturing equipment. Additionally, this position will be responsible for maintenance, repair, system upgrades or replacement of the facility Building Management System (BMS) which provide environmental controls and other critical services needed for the manufacturing and R&D operations.
Summary of essential job functions and responsibilities:
Maintenance, modification, upgrade or replacement of facility Building Management System
Conceptualize required machine functions, select and procure components required for SCADA/HMI systems
Build, install, program and commission SCADA/HMI systems
Resolve any issues with programming and hardware
Write PLC and HMI programming code per project requirements
Develop and maintain ?English language? version of process control code
Develop training and trouble shooting guides for process control systems
Build, wire, install and commission electrical components, peripheral devices and panels
Develop/create controls system architecture drawings, wiring diagrams, points lists, configurations, HMI screens and detailed bill of materials
Prepare controls system commissioning test plans for functional verification
Design and implement SCADA interface with database system
Prepare, maintain and monitor project plans, schedules and budgets
Interface with internal customers, vendors and suppliers regarding project specifications
Produce Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manuals for SCADA/HMI and BMS systems
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High level of hands-on knowledge of manufacturing equipment and practices, machine maintenance and repair, instrumentation, PLC programming, servo programming, SCADA systems and interfaces with database systems.
Experience with Field Bus I/O such as BACnet, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet and ProfiBus
Ability to work effectively in a team with other organizations both internal and external
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task; efficient time-management
Ability to organize work load and work effectively toward achievement of project milestones, schedule and budget with minimal direction from manager.
Knowledge of engineering principles, practices, theories and technologies related to equipment controls, mechanical or electrical/electronic systems and processes
Ability to read and interpret both mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
Project management skills
OSHA regulations and safe working practices
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to establish good working relationships with other departments within Nanosys as well as external organizations such as suppliers and vendors
Must be able to work flexible hours to support manufacturing and R&D operations
Education, Experience and Certifications:
BS in Industrial Electronics, Controls, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Understanding of controls architecture and controls networking
Strong knowledge of design, specification and implementation of software and hardware systems
Knowledge and experience in industrial electricity, variable frequency drives, electrical control systems, servo motors, inverters, machine and systems architecture and troubleshooting of equipment
Understanding and experience with applicable NFPA, NEC, ANSI and GMP standards such as NFPA 70 and 79
Minimum of 5 years industrial manufacturing or mixed industrial manufacturing/R&D experience.
