The Controls Engineer is responsible for model-based controls strategy development for a diesel powertrain with a variety of subsystems, such as EGR, turbocharger, fuel injection and after treatment. The successful candidate will:
Develop requirements for control software that help meet performance and emissions powertrain goals
Implement control strategy features using Simulink on a rapid prototyping controller
Create test plans for unit and integration testing of software features
Complete HIL testing in order to validate new software features
Generate and maintain release documentation pertaining to software releases
Assist in debugging and calibration of control software on the engine dynamometer
Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in diesel powertrain controls and help further the company's intellectual property
Collaborate with suppliers and internal as well as external partners
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or foreign educational equivalent
On-the-job experience in model-based powertrain controls development
Experience with the development and implementation of On Board Diagnostics (OBD II, HD OBD)
Competency in the Mathworks products, including Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow and Real Time Workshop
Experience with controls rapid prototyping using tools such as system Mototron, Dspace or OpenECU
Experience with the implementation and testing of CAN protocols (J1939, etc.) and CAN tools such as Vector Canalyser
Control system calibration and validation experience on engine and chassis dynamometers and actual vehicles
Desirable Skills:
Proficiency with control system calibration tools, including ETAS Inca, ATI Vision or Vector Canape
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of powertrain controls
Prior experience with an OEM and/or flexibility to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment
Knowledge of advanced controls concepts such as predictive and adaptive controls
