POSITION SUMMARY
The perfect candidate would be familiar with managing many servers in distributed data centers. The person would help manage global automation and distribution of application, and customer configurations, as well as automated application installation. EdgeCast is looking for a high performing Software Engineer with expertise in shell scripting, Perl and Python development. The ideal candidate needs to have knowledge of a wide range of applicable technologies and software engineering methodologies.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with the development team building enterprise-level technology applications
Be a subject-matter expert within our technical team in regards to Perl or Python and Shell scripting
Build automation tools for managing very large volumes of data
Write elegant, transportable and scalable code
Reformat and separate data for a wide variety of uses
REQUIREMENTS
BS in Computer Science or Engineering (MS highly preferred!)
Expert with scripting languages, Shell, Perl and Python in a Linux environment
Demonstrated expertise on very large data sets, preferably from many sources
Fluent in working with both Linux and Microsoft platforms
Ability to develop scripts (Linux/Windows) to support unattended deployment
In-depth knowledge of web enablement technologies such as: XML, HTML in addition to other development technologies
Must have experience working with large volumes of data
Experience with NoSQL database technologies (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra or Riak, etc.)
Experience building and working with multiple tier web applications
Flexible and creative to accommodate evolving requirements
Experience programming in C/C++ highly desirable
