Corporate Attorney
We are seeking a highly motivated attorney with 3-5 years of corporate law experience for a unique and exciting opportunity. This attorney will play an important role in maintaining and improving the quality of LegalZoom products, and will use his or her legal skills to improve the lives of our many valuable customers. Business and intellectual property products will be this person?s primary, but not sole, focus. The attorney may also be called on to the legal department with traditional in-house corporate work. This position will be located at our headquarters in Glendale, CA.
Principal Responsibilities:
Execute a broad range of initiatives relating to LegalZoom products, including:
Careful, in-depth review, analysis, and revision of components
Regular review and updating of offerings and components
Management of internal monitoring systems and compliance programs
Develop and manage cross-departmental project plans to meet company goals in product quality and positively affect product development, design, and operations.
Ensure awareness of and responsiveness to quality standards, requirements, and procedures with departments, subject matter experts, and external resources. This will include:
Analyzing and recommending product improvement strategies to executives
Guiding and training product groups
Managing attorneys serving as product consultants and strategic partners
Component inventory
Knowledge base
Policies, training materials, and standardization
Support the legal department by assisting with traditional in-house corporate work, as needed.
Develop and maintain internal product quality systems, including:
Basic Qualifications:
Between 3 and 5 years of recent experience practicing corporate law at:
- A major law firm; or
- A smaller firm affording extensive experience with corporate formation matters, from inception to conclusion, including direct client contact
Knowledge of and experience with various forms of corporate entities.
Extensive experience drafting corporate documents (e.g., resolutions, bylaws, and operating agreements)
Intellectual property knowledge and experience not required but strongly preferred
Strong personal commitment to high-quality work product.
Exceptional ability to maintain focus and motivation to complete long-term projects
Exceptional attention to detail, balanced with ability to appreciate practicality and see the big picture.
Excellent research, writing, judgment, and analytical skills.
Highly logical, practical, organized, and self-motivated.
Able to develop and execute project plans in pursuit of a goal, often without detailed step-by-step directives.
True team player willing to take on any task, work with a wide range of personalities, and able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
J.D. with excellent academic record.
Admission to and good standing with any state bar (CA strongly preferred). Multi-state practice or bar admissions a plus.
