Assists in the development, implementation, and oversight of financial policy and procedures. Follows direction of CFO in the overall management of the department and makes recommendations and improvements as needed.
Leads and is accountable for the day-to-day management all accounting functions and associated staff, which includes but is not limited to internal and external financial statement and debt compliance reporting, all tax and corporate filings and associated compliance activity, annual audit of financial statements and compliance/regulatory audits.
Oversees all general and corporate accounting and treasury functions including banking arrangements, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable and general accounting.
Responsible to develop, implement and maintain internal control procedures over all financial functions of the company and assure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing, and corporate tax compliance in accordance with established procedures. Maintain corporate purchasing approval guidelines and work with operations management to maintain compliance.
Will be proficient in the understanding and application of generally accepted accounting principles and maintain financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAP.
Will manage the annual budget process and maintain an effective monitoring and forecasting process on a monthly basis to assist management in carrying out corporate objectives and identify areas for operational improvement.
Coordination of audit field work.
Coordinate with CPA firm all federal, state and local tax reporting in a multi-state environment.
Hires, disciplines and dismisses staff within his or her division.
Focuses efforts on staff development and training within the department.
Ensures that staff feels valued within the organization.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Experience and Skills:
Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
Minimum 7 years of experience required (public or industry) with significant healthcare experience. Big four accounting firm experience a plus.
