Cost Accountant Aegerion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
The Cost Accountant will combine cost accounting duties with other financial accounting responsibilities. In addition to traditional cost accounting responsibilities, this position will also be responsible for the financial accounting for intercompany profit eliminations and accruals related to manufacturing. Responsibilities will include assisting with standards setting, variance monitoring, cost of sales accounting, manufacturing accruals and intercompany profit eliminations. This position will report to the Financial Reporting Manager.
Responsible for all aspects of cost accounting process from start to finish.
Manage the month-end close process for inventory and ensure compliance with US GAAP.
Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports analyzing manufacturing variances.
Manage the annual standard cost setting for cost of goods sold.
Prepare forecasts of inventory and cost of sales balances in support of financial planning and budgeting.
Evaluate current accounting processes and make recommendations to ensure efficiency.
Monitor inventory levels for accuracy.
Establish excess or obsolete inventory review process.
Coordinate and review inventory observations and cycle counts.
Prepare schedules and analysis for external auditors.
Prepare monthly manufacturing accruals.
Act as a resource to Manufacturing/ Supply Chain regarding all accounting issues, reporting and analysis.
Responsible for monthly intercompany profit eliminations.
Assist with other projects as needed.
The ideal candidate will have:
BS in Accounting.
5 + years experience in cost accounting. Experience with international subsidiaries a plus.
In-depth knowledge of US GAAP regarding cost accounting.
Strong attention to detail.
Must be a self starter, able to work independently and in a team environment, and have excellent judgment and problem solving skills.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Experience with enterprise resource planning systems.
Proficiency in Excel.
Professional integrity, initiative and dependability.
Life Science/ Pharmaceutical industry experience a plus.
