COST ACCOUNTING MANAGER #400 Nanosys
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED The Cost Accounting Manager reports to the CFO and is responsible for directing all cost accounting related activities in accordance with the company?s established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate must have solid interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal departments. In addition, he/she must be a proven leader in order to successfully guide the cost accounting team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, organize and direct all the activities of the cost accounting function.
Lead a Project Cost Team in the development of a standard costing system.
Manage the transition from the existing cost environment to a new standard cost system.
Development and maintenance of standard costs and BOMs.
Proactive analysis of variances and communication of issues and opportunities.
Develop metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers.
Define policies and procedures for all cost accounting and inventory activities.
Coordinate with IT department on system issues, maintenance and developments to improve the cost accounting function and timeliness of reporting.
Working with the business, participate in on-going cycle counts, ensuring accuracy of inventory counts, analyzing results, book-to-physical reconciliations, investigating variances, and resolving issues through use of root-cause analysis.
Review and approve general ledger accounts assigned to cost accounting.
Oversee budget and forecasting relating to cost accounting.
Prepare inventory and COGS analysis.
Perform product COGS, variances and margin analysis.
Responsible for month end close in cost accounting areas.
Interface with external auditors and assist in external quarterly reviews and annual audit.
Participate in other accounting and/or management projects as necessary.
Supervise cost accounting team, including directing work, providing training and development and managing performance related issues
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA and CPA preferred
8+ years of experience in high tech manufacturing industry a must.
Experience with ORACLE eSuite, or other major ERP software.
Experience implementing cost accounting software or ERP modules.
Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient computer user with advance knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Significant cost accounting experience in a heavy manufacturing environment with understanding of business management software systems, thorough understanding of US GAAP and cost accounting standards and experience applying accounting principles, theories and concepts to financial transactions related to manufacturing processes.
Experienced in interacting with manufacturing, engineering, quality, purchasing, production control, materials, and other functional areas of a manufacturing business.
Strong working knowledge of Information Systems (MRP, ERP, etc.) with emphasis in ORACLE preferred.
Ability to lead, motivate and support accounting team
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with non-accounting professionals
