Course Operations Specialist Coursera
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED As part of our Course Operations team, you will be deep in the trenches with our instructors and teaching staff, and right in the heart of our massive online experiment. We operate from the unique vantage point of being immersed in the inner workings of every single one of our courses. With us, you will wear many hats, from communicating with professors and school administrators in one-on-one settings on a daily basis, to writing documentation and designing instructional programs to bring new professors and schools on board as effectively as possible.
This is a technically demanding role: to effectively communicate the ins and outs of our web platform to our instructors, you will first have to master them. As you'll be working with instructors across a wide swath of different disciplines, while at the same time working with our engineers to understand and design the nuts and bolts of our systems, you will need a demonstrated ability to pick things up on the fly and rapidly assimilate information from a wide variety of sources.
Throughout it all, you will use your experience to distill and refine good pedagogical practices from what we see going on in our classes, and pass these back to our instructors. You will need strong interpersonal skills, a passion for education, and an instinct for what makes for effective teaching. By supporting our instructors, you will, effectively, be helping to teach millions of students. At the same time, you will use your experience to help our engineers develop features that would be most useful for our instructors and students. (Here, a background in computer science would be helpful, but is by no means required.)
We are rapidly changing the landscape of online - and offline - education, and you will need to adapt and learn quickly to stay on your feet and deal with the craziness that comes with being at the center of the online education revolution. But at the end of the day, the job description is simple: work with world-class instructors and engineers to make our classes awesome for millions of students. Do whatever it takes to spread the gift of top-notch education, and make a profound difference to lives and societies around the world. If that is exactly what you want to do, we'd love to talk to you. The field of online education is a vast, uncharted territory that is simply brimming with potential, and we invite you to explore it with us.
