Responsible for coordinating, monitoring and maintaining the credentialing and recredentialing process. Facilitates all aspects of credentialing, including appointment, reappointment, monitoring and privileging for medical staff and allied health practitioners. Ensures compliance with the accrediting and regulatory agencies in regards to credentialing while developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the statutes and laws. Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credentialing and clinical privileging database system and for ensuring the timeliness of credentialing/recredentialing verification. Duties include the gathering, verification and evaluation of confidential healthcare provider credentials as well as data entry of all credentialing information.
Manager, Medical Staff Office
AICU/AICU Medical Group Credentialing Responsibilities:
Process all initial credential applications for physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants according to policies and procedures, Medical Staff Bylaws, Joint Commission and/or ambulatory care accreditation standards. All initial applications must be complete within 30 days of receipt.
Review applications and other documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Process applications for Registered Nurses to include; entering into the IntelliCred database and verifying CCRN and all current and past licensure.
Gather, verify and evaluate confidential credentials, as well as contact and follow up with facilities to obtain documentation relevant to the credentialing process.
Compile complete and accurate credentialing files for physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
Submit complete initial appointment credentialing files to Manager for audit.
Prepare and obtain signatures on temporary and full privilege letters for all approved applications.
Responsible for timely communicating to Manager, Medical Staff Office any issues/concerns.
Coordinate all re-credentialing activities and documentation for all physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants to ensure we have current verifications and documentation on file at all times.
Coordinating, monitoring and maintaining the CME/CEU files for all medical staff and allied health practitioners ensuring compliance with the accrediting and regulatory agencies for licensing and credentialing.
Ensure that all expirables are reviewed, obtained and managed on a monthly basis according to rules and policies.
Database (IntelliCred) Responsibilities:
Timely and accurately enter all fees in the IntelliCred Database.
Timely and accurately enter and update all in-process applications in the IntelliCred Database.
Timely and accurately enter and update all credentials and verifications for physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
Proactively process check requests to ensure timely turnaround and prevent delays in credentialing.
Assist in compliance with the accrediting and regulatory agencies (i.e. TJC) in regards to credentialing while developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the statutes and laws.
Participate in credentialing quality activities as assigned.
Maintain the confidentiality of all business/work and medical staff information.
Coordinate and support special projects as required.
This individual also supports other administrative duties within the Medical Staff Office.
Must have at least 5 years credentialing experience.
Must be willing to obtain CPCS Certification within one year.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Requires ability to maintain accurate records.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint).
Must be a self-starter, energetic, organized, a fast learner and thrive in a fast paced environment.
Ability to balance multiple projects concurrently, follow through and focus on details.
Strong problem solving skills.
Requires ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with clinical staff, outside agencies and the public.
