Seeking a CT Technologist, NON-IDTF for our Mobile Imaging Unit. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, perform all required diagnostic CT scanning procedures with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent, high quality examinations.
Examples of Essential Functions:
Perform all required diagnostic CT scanning procedures through proper positioning and technique, consistently demonstrating good judgement in evaluating the diagnostic studies.
Screen patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination (i.e., pain, pregnancy, metallic objects, isolation patients, etc.). Obtain and review the requisition for examination in order to be aware of information such as procedure requested, clinical history, patient condition or any other special requirements
Thoroughly explain procedure to be performed to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation. Monitor the condition of any patient within the department and assist the radiologist in performing needed medical attention, if applicable.
Comply with company operational and safety policies and procedures. Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and emergency procedures, where applicable.
Maintain the CT scanning equipment in good operating order. Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Check to ensure emergency response equipment is in good working order. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to responsible supervisor.
Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and processing of films, adequate clinical history and previous x-rays for comparison (if available).
Assist radiologist during the administration of contrast media and practice medical aseptic procedures as required. Recognize allergic reactions and respond in accordance to company policies and procedures for emergent patient care.
Assist with patient scheduling and patient preparation required prior to examination.
Assure that ?patient first? customer service is provided to referring physicians, their staff and patients.
Conduct examinations with regard to patient?s age, condition or other special requirements.
Candidates must have:
Associates degree in applied science or graduate of an accredited hospital based program.
ARRT (R) Certification.
CPR Certification.
Valid temporary state license in radiography or nuclear medicine is acceptable for 90 days until successful completion of national certification is obtained.
Desirable:
Bachelors degree.
At least one year?s experience as a CT Technologist.
Advanced ARRT certification in (CT).
Knowledge:
Working knowledge applicable to CT scanning technology with specific references to cross-sectional anatomy, medical and surgical disease and scientific principles as applied to CT scanning
Patient care standards and requirements.
Quality assurance principles and practices.
Customer service principles and practices.
OSHA principles and practices.
JCAHO standards of practice.
ACR standards of practice.
Skills/Abilities:
Operate and adjust CT scanning equipment and ancillary equipment.
Schedule, organize and monitor patient flow so as to meet company productivity, quality, health and safety standards.
Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers.
Venipuncture Certification, if applicable.
Schedule, organize and complete work in accordance with required workloads
Read, interpret and follow internal quality standards and governmental regulations.
Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
Maintain the confidentiality of patient records and complete administrative records and reports.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).
Requirements
Special Requirements/Certification:
ARRT (R) Certification.
CPR Certification.
Valid temporary state license in radiography or nuclear medicine is acceptable for 90 days until successful completion of national certification is obtained.
May be required to drive long distances to mobile locations.
May be required to rotate on an on-call basis.
OSHA Class 1 training on exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
May require use of personal vehicle for business purposes.
