The Curriculum Developer is primarily responsible for defining, developing, and delivering courseware that accelerates customers? proficiency with Chef, as well as their understanding of related concepts such as configuration management, infrastructure automation, and continuous delivery. The Curriculum Developer will also review, analyze, and update any existing training content and processes to ensure consistent, high-quality training.
This role will work with Opscode?s product development, consulting, and support teams to understand the essential knowledge and skills necessary for successfully utilizing Chef. Chef curricula will impart such knowledge and skills, and will include a mixture of self-guided web-based materials and also instructor-led courses in both online and classroom formats. All courseware will utilize a mix of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on lab exercises. Students will have varying backgrounds including software developers, system administrators, and IT management.
Identifies knowledge and skills necessary for successful utilizing Chef
Defines and develops instructional materials that imparts critical concepts and requisite Chef skills
Develops lab exercises that reinforce the concepts and skills taught
Writes web content that assists students in self-study (e.g., learnchef.com)
Records screencasts and online demonstrations
Delivers technical training, both online and in the classroom
Reconfigures curriculum and learning materials based on results of pilots, feedback, and testing in order to continuously improve its effectiveness
Expertise in instructional design, training, or technical documentation, including demonstrated knowledge of best practices for technical adult learning
Experience in developing curricula in online, self-directed, and classroom-based formats preferred
Expert skill in written communication, including design of learning materials
Demonstrably superb verbal communications skills, including a dynamic and engaging presentation style that inspires confidence
Experience in training others in complex tasks and skills.
Some project management or project coordination experience preferred
Experience as an application developer or system administrator
Understanding of configuration management tools and principles
Experience in dynamic / scripting programming languages and Infrastructure Automation tools
Ability to work directly with customers
Willingness to travel
Existing involvement in the Chef community is a bonus
Experience running production IT / web operations is a bonus
