Job Description: That's a cool job! I want it!
Splunk Customer Support is epic support. Expect to “level up†not only as a Support professional, but as a problem-solver when you join our team. You will develop skills you can take to the bank.
Splunk Customer Support Engineers are detail-oriented investigators whose responsibility is to take ownership of issues, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems across a range of environments. We take pride in our work and in our ability to provide the customer with a complete and reliable solution. Our customers run the gamut from mom-and-pop single-server shops to the gigantic production datacenter environments of the largest enterprises.
Looking beyond the support case symptom, the team goes further to understand what's not immediately visible - not just doing the triage, but also searching for the root cause. The customer wants their problem solved and our goal is to solve it and have an impact - large or small - that provides a connection. There no phone scripts here.
As a Customer Support Engineer Intern you will learn how to support and troubleshoot Splunk. You will learn how to take a case from submission to closure, communicate with the customer, interface with engineering, file bug reports, research and test case issues, and document your steps along the way.
Secondarily, you will also learn a lot about the software development process, and how the role of Support fits into it. You will come away from this internship with a much clearer understanding of how successful software companies operate and how to navigate within them.
Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!
- Provide first level phone support: Is the customer an authorized contact? Has the customer provided the information needed to efficiently troubleshoot the case?
- Identify and troubleshoot support cases: Is this a problem we've seen before? Where should we look first?
- Provide detailed documentation: How did we solve this problem? Do we need to file a bug? What information should be in the bug to help the engineer resolve it? Is this issue in the documentation? Should it be?
Requirements: I've already done that or have that!
- Ability to learn quickly and a passion for solving problems
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Experience with UNIX, Windows and Mac OS X
- Basic knowledge of networking a plus
