Responsibilities:
Comprehensive hands-on and strategic role leading data warehouse architecture. Establish the long-term strategy and technical architecture as well as the short-term scope for multi-phased data warehouse projects. Work with technical as well as end users to understand business requirements and identify data solutions.
Own, maintain and set direction for data security, data standards, storage solutions, database virtualization and replication as well as other complex technical tools and solutions.
Develop roadmaps and strategies for applications, data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database on an enterprise level.
Design, develop and maintain the master data management framework and implement data warehouse architecture.
Assist and guide development in data flows across all sources and targets in the ecosystem.
Set and develop data standards and conventions across the organization, perform architecture design reviews.
Serves as a partner and an internal consultant to other IT organizations to make sure that the Data Architecture is aligned to business goals and brings value to the business.
The position will serve a leadership role to the rest of the team and help implement best development and support practices. Build an automated, replicable and scalable data architecture that dramatically improves the productivity and efficiency within our company.
Stays informed about technology trends, directions & determines applicability to company
Utilizes industry & competitive knowledge to apply the most current and appropriate ideas in a forward looking manner to support the business & also to anticipate new opportunities
Conducts vendor/technology evaluation as appropriate
Influences the acceptance of new technologies that drive consistency, efficiency & agility to the organization
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
Expert in leading successful data warehousing implementations
10+ years experience in Data Management Solutions and Architecture with the design, development and maintenance of enterprise level data systems
Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven atmosphere
Ability to work with technical as well as end users to understand business requirements and identify data solutions
Ability to write reports and effectively present information, and respond to questions from management, customers, and the general public
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Analytical, problem solver, collaborative, strategic, results-oriented
Mastery of CASE tools (e.g., Oracle Designer, ERwin Data Modeler, ER/Studio, Toad Data Modeler)
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with database development
Minimum of five (5) years of experience using SQL, PL/SQL and/or PL/pgSQL
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in ETL design
Strong project management and organizational skills
Ability to independently research and solve complex technical challenges
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
Excellent interpersonal skills - collaborate, facilitate, and
negotiate as necessary
Abilities Required:
Knowledge of Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, HiveQL, NoSQL)
Knowledge of database administration and management
Background in/experience in eCommerce
Knowledge of database and SQL performance tuning
Understanding of BPM, workflow processes
Experience in Agile methodology
Can work flexible hours
Travel may be required
