About the Position
As part of the Data Team at Etsy, you will:
Work closely with cross-functional product teams to scout, build, instrument and improve Etsy;
Look for and execute upon opportunities to improve the quality of our data, our infrastructure and our products;
Understand and communicate a holistic picture of the business to the company and the community;
Promote the automation of repetitive tasks and a culture of using the right tool for the job;
Teach what you learn to the team.
About You
You are able to pull, munge, work with big datasets with minimal engineering support;
You use Bayes? Theorem daily;
You aggressively prioritize and mercilessly edit your own work;
You have built something firsthand that you?re proud of;
You care about producing reproducible work and have picked up tools to this end;
You have opinions on subjects such as experimental design, data visualization, behavioral economics;
You are currently learning something outside of your immediate line of work.
Nice to have, but not essential:
You are productive in one or more high-level programming languages (Ruby, Python, JavaScript);
You are productive in statistical programming languages and tools like R or SciPy;
You are familiar with the Apache Hadoop ecosystem.
