AddThis is looking for a Data Analyst who has a background in online data, reporting, analysis, and data validation. This is a data-intensive position involving investigation of substantive business questions and data quality.
This person should understand how web analytic data and display ad data are collected, and what assumptions about these data are appropriate. An ideal candidate would have solid education background in a quantitative field, with demonstrated experience constructing and managing large data sets for analysis. Experience with statistics, econometrics, or experimental design is important.
Primary Responsibilities:
Analyze data assets for content and quality, especially as it relates to audience and data products metrics.
Evaluate the health of existing data sources, investigate data anomalies to root cause, and make recommendations for short- and long-term corrective action or modification.
Develop processes that clean, structure, or format data so that it is more appropriate for downstream usage.
Identify similar or redundant data sets, and recommend how they can be combined for more efficient resource usage.
Create ad hoc data sets for specific research projects.
Document data assets, usage recommendations, and known issues.
Work with engineering team to develop and improve our suite of data management tools.
Present findings and recommendations to the data and product teams that might improve our products.
Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor degree in a quantitative field, or comparable post-graduation experience.
At least 2 years of web analytic experience, including web data collection and debugging.
Proven analytical skills with an established approach to quantitative analysis
Proven spreadsheet skills, extremely proficient and confident using Excel (pivot tables, lookup functions, complex charts)
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate quantitative numbers into recommended actions.
Experience working with external customers
Basic to intermediate knowledge of html, unix shell scripts, mySQL. Knowledge of javascript and java a plus.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment. Organized, with ability to work on multiple projects and issues.
