THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED We have a sophisticated real-time data processing architecture that needs your design skills to bring it in line with our rapidly changing business requirements. You have both the big data and the real-time data processing application experience to take advantage of our large-scale, real-time CEP architecture, and the massive relational processing power of our Netezza TF12. Help us bring the world-class analytics we developed with Second Life to some of the industry?s most creative new products.
You have a background as a hands-on builder of big data systems, and you have direct experience in high volume, real-time logging infrastructure, and analytical application development. You also have strong opinions about data and process design.
Conceptualize and design both relational and unstructured data processing systems. Take ownership over the ongoing migration to our next generation of technologies.
Logging Infrastructure - Improve real-time logging infrastructure and evaluate new technologies to meet the needs of fast-moving product teams and the high volumes of data they produce.
Real-time Applications ? Coordinate with product teams to design and build real-time analytical applications using Streambase to provide critical realtime insights to the business and to our residents
Development ? No room for whiteboard engineers here. Roll up your sleeves and pitch in with the engineering team to build proof-of-concept and production systems.
Other duties may be assigned
Extensive experience working with large-scale relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Teradata).
Experience with MapReduce technologies / Hadoop as well as log parsing and analysis tools like Splunk or Sumo Logic, are a big plus.
Mastery of SQL and relational concepts is an obvious prerequisite, and you should also have familiarity with non-relational document stores.
Advanced coding experience and comfort with shell scripting, Python, or Perl. Experience with Java a plus
Fluency in Linux; some systems admin experience will be useful
Experience with message queues like RabbitMQ and/or working with real-time ETL or data processing systems is also helpful
Desire to work in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment on really interesting problems

Education and Experience
Bachelor?s Degree in a computer/database related field or equivalent professional experience
8+ years experience in software engineering or database architecture and design
