Summary:
The Data Center Engineer will possess infrastructure advanced hands-on technical skills in networks, server hardware and operating systems. Furthermore this position will support knowledge transfer to others in the datacenter team as required. Under minimal or no direction performs the operations of all data center activities for Gogo?s production and recovery data centers. This individual will interact with various internal technology teams and vendors. The datacenter will be expected to pilot incident management and fix/repair efforts and take ownership within the datacenter of change request implementations.
Responsibilities:
Network outage recovery efforts and develop work-around to problems, where possible.
Responsible for all day to day datacenter issues regarding procurement, shipments, auditing, security and access management.
Install and troubleshoot switches, routers, and other core networking gear for Gogo production and recovery sites.
Periodic technical interaction with network engineering regarding data center growth and scaling issues before they occur and implement solutions.
Help to develop standards and promote best practices in data center operations.
Introduce process improvements and encourage best practices in data center operations.
Formulate effective approaches to resolving specific issues, and keep management apprised of the status of problem resolution efforts.
Work closely with internal subject matter experts and 3rd party vendors to arrive at permanent solutions to network issues.
Actively contribute to the development of effective and efficient datacenter infrastructure processes.
Qualifications:
BS degree with 2 years datacenter experience or 2 year AAS degree and 5 years in the field of Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work and education experience.
Experience in data center infrastructure, implementation and network trouble shooting to include:
oCisco routers, service engines, content filters, load balancing concepts
oComplex network environments running BGP, OSPF and RSTP
oSecurity ? VPN, Firewalls, ASA, CISCO IPS
oBasic system admin skills for Windows and Linux
oHands on time with a high availability environment
Extensive experience in Layer 2 & Layer 3 technologies as well troubleshooting CISCO ACE and IOS SLB
CCNA or higher Cisco certifications are required
CCNP level working knowledge
Working knowledge of Cisco 76xx, Nexus and ASAs
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Cellular experience a plus
Satellite experience a plus
Limited travel to our datacenter in Denver.
