Description:The Data Center Manager is responsible for preventative and operational maintenance of Vesta?s data centers and will recommend and implement compute, storage, and backup and recovery solutions that meet the company?s budget, recovery point and recovery time objectives. This position works closely with other IT managers in developing policy, short and long term goals and objectives, and works on projects and processes through collaborative teamwork. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and business best practices in data center operations, power configuration, cable management, compute and storage resources, along with an extensive background in people management with the ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment.
Day-to-day management of work tasks and projects for the IT Infrastructure Team.
Provide overall technical, administrative, and managerial leadership to the IT Infrastructure Team
Responsible for operation of Vesta-owned and virtual/cloud IT Infrastructure including:
Physical data centers located across the globe
Co-located and managed data centers and Infrastructure
Servers, storage and other systems required for Vesta IT Operations including VM Hosts, Standalone servers, SAN, backup and other systems.
Operating systems and critical applications including Windows Server, Linux, VMWare.
Management of Active Directory services.
Provide tier-3 support of business systems including email (Exchange), SharePoint and other applications.
Participate in Manager On-Call rotations
Responsible for being incident manager during unplanned outages
IT leader for managing planned maintenances
Collaborate with business users and other teams to design, develop and deploy the best solutions to ensure high level of service uptime
Assume ownership and complete work with minimal supervision
Owner of IT related projects, supplying timeframes, scheduling cross-departmental resources, and plan maintenance activities
Conduct research on computer and storage hardware and software to maintain datacenter efficiency
Maintain hardware configuration and datacenter layout best practices for compute and storage devices
Work with IT and other internal departments to provide the necessary compute and storage resources needsed
Participate in the virtual INFOSEC team to provide planning for PCI and security related projects and initiatives
Advanced knowledge of:
Virtualization technologies with direct experience with VMware vSphere
Rack and blade server technology
SAN and DAS storage devices
Storage protocols including but not limited to iSCSI, Fiber Channel
Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP configuration Microsoft Windows server 2003 and later
System monitoring and alerting
Experience in managing various storage services (centralized storage mechanisms SAN and NAS, and distributed storage)
Experience in virtual/hosted data center service, managed Infrastructure (Cloud Services)
Knowledge of and experience with data center cabling and network standards.
Excellent priority and task management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
BS in Information Technology or Engineering or equivalent related work experience
Minimum ten years related work experience, at least five of which are as a manager
Ability to train, coach, and develop staff to accomplish established goals
Excellent verbal/written communication skills
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Minimum of three years of experience with data center management
Minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in IT support and leadership role
Strong experience implementing process improvements and best practices in a large IT environment
Ability and willingness to travel regionally and internationally
