The Analytics team is responsible for innovating new data and analytics products to help our users build wealth and make the most of their employer-provided benefits and to help our business better understand our customers.
We are seeking a data engineer to help architect, buildout and develop algorithms for a distributed data processing environment. This environment will be used to create and host the next generation of analytic products under development by HelloWallet and our customers.
We are in the early stages of building out the platform so you have an opportunity to help define the architecture along with playing a hands on role in enabling mission critical analytics and reporting on our the growing store of user, application and marketing data.
You should have relevant hands-on development experience with ?big data? and NoSQL technologies such as Hadoop, Mahout, ImpalaHawq, MongoDB, HPCC SystemsECL etc and utilizing these technologies to ask complex questions of structured and semi-structured data.
Ask interesting questions of structured and semistructured data sources
Quant experience implementing general data mining techniques such as clustering, classification and association analysis in a distributed multi-source environment
Creation and management of a production ready ETL process to handle multiple data feeds
Query and visualize large datasets using a variety of tools and techniques
Deploy different techniques to pick out unexpected lessons and relationships
Advanced quantitative degree in math, statistics, biostatistics, science or engineering
Several years of relevant work experience asking interesting questions of data
Experience with ?big data? and NoSQL distributed processing platforms and implementation of algorithms to run efficiently on these platforms
Prefered experiences with ETL tools such an Pentaho and Telend
Prefered experience with data visualization techniques and toolsets such as D3
Proven ability to draw conclusions from data and recommend action
Willingness to learn new techniques and theories
Demonstrated leadership skills and self-direction
Supervisor: reports to Vice President, Analytics
Location: The position is based in downtown Washington, DC and does not involve travel.
