Smaato is looking for a Data Scientist/Data Architect for R&D initiatives including Mobile Audience Creation and Targeting, Publisher Segmentation and Campaign & Network Optimization for Smaato's mobile advertising platforms. Based in the San Francisco office, this person will report to the SVP Product & Strategy and work closely with the engineering team to ensure that Smaato remains at the forefront of the rapidly expanding mobile advertising industry.
An ideal candidate for this role has significant experience in the field of data science / Business Intelligence / applied statistics, exception analytical and strong technical skills, and is passionate about defining and building the next generation of mobile ad:tech products that will prove the value of mobile advertising with advertisers and agencies. We are looking for a candidate who has a level of intelligence, creativity, adaptability and has demonstrated the drive to achieve and succeed in a multi-cultural team environment.
We are looking for the following background and skill set:
Strong analytical skills and willingness to learn.
Strong background in mathematical optimization & machine learning theory.
Good understanding of probability theory and statistical methods.
Proven technical skills in analysis and design for complex systems.
Ability to write quality code to prototype and implement research algorithms.
BS in computer science, a quantitative engineering discipline, statistics, or applied mathematics, MS/PhD preferred.
2 - 8 years experience in Online/Mobile Advertising/Social Media/E-Commerce.
Good understanding and experience in a statistical programming language, R or equivalent.
General understanding of software engineering principles and experience in a programming/scripting. language such as Java/C++/Python/Perl or equivalent, as well as spreadsheet pivot tables.
Experience with writing SQL queries is expected, familiarity and experience with NoSQL technologies including Hadoop/Hive etc. would be useful.
Prior experience with working with a European software development company is a plus.
