Truaxis is looking for a super smart data scientist to lead its data mining and machine learning efforts and help build state-of-the-art recommendation engine that adapts to each consumer. Truaxis has created the world's most sophisticated platform for analyzing consumers' anonymized shopping behavior, bringing them targeted savings based on an unprecedented trove of transaction data; the way we will win this market is by effectively leveraging this data to create the most compelling user experience. You will work closely with other members of the Truaxis team to conceptualize, build, and enhance cutting-edge products, similar to the award-winning services available today on BillShrink.com and Truaxis.com.

What you are responsible for

Analyze large real-world datasets on customer shopping habits and perform customer segmentation across multiple dimensions, producing customer demographic, financial, and behavioral profiles
Apply well established statistical and machine learning algorithms and in some cases custom algorithms to predict customer behavior
Work with product management and engineering teams in establishing scalable, efficient processes for large scale data analysis, predictive model development, and implementation
Perform ad hoc statistical diagnostics and exploratory analysis of customer data
Design test campaigns to support revenue and learning objectives
Provide actionable recommendations based on insights, and present to business sponsors via data visualizations, white papers, power point presentations etc.
Communicate and educate technical and non-technical employees on analytics and data driven decision making

What you need for this position

Experience in machine learning, data mining, recommendation systems, knowledge discovery, information retrieval
Strong working knowledge of data mining algorithms including decision trees, probability networks, association rules, clustering, regression, and neural networks
Proficiency in at least one statistical analysis tool such as WEKA, R, etc.
Hands-on experience turning conversations into prototypes and prototypes into products -- ideally in a startup environment.
Fundamental understanding of relational data modeling and experience with relational database platforms such as (but not limited to) Mysql, Postgres, etc.
Strong programming skills in Object Oriented language such as C++, Java, Python etc.
Ability to self-organize and work effectively with minimal supervision
MS/PhD degree in Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Data Mining, or related field
2+ years working experience applying data mining and machine learning techniques to real-world problems
Experience with distributed database platforms such as Hadoop and Cassandra is a plus
