About the Job:
Twilio is growing exponentially and we are looking for a Data Scientist to build a world-class data science practice. The ideal individual has 5-10 years of experience in data science/business intelligence/applied statistics, exceptional analytical skills, strong technical skills as well as the ability to interact with senior leadership and thrives in a fast pace startup.
Work with the business (line, marketing, product, Sales) to understand business problems, translate them into data science projects and appropriately prioritize and execute them.
Work within a world-class data team to answer big data questions for business stakeholders. The team will utilize sophisticated data analysis techniques, to derive meaningful insights, which the business can clearly act on to drive business results.
Look for key opportunities and take a proactive approach to analyses; initiate proactive projects to uncover key insights.
Provide key input to the technical team on data requirements.
Educate and evangelize data driven approaches across the organization.
Self-Starter, with an extraordinary ability to execute multiple projects under tight deadlines that drive key business results.
Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization algorithms.
Strong domain knowledge in the latest tools and techniques in data science.
Substantial experience in analyzing online user behavior to generate insights about user experience, business opportunities, and product strategies.
Ability to partner and collaborate and communicate well with executive leadership (both technical and non-technical).
Passionate about the Internet, UC Technologies, and community building with a demonstrated track record of visionary execution.
Advanced data accessing skills (e.g., SQL) and manipulating data (Excel, Python, etc.); ideally experience in programming to extract data.
Advanced experience in at least one major statistical tool (e.g. R).
Keen understanding of the most recent trends around consumer usage.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to interact and understand technical subjects/emerging technologies and their relevance to the marketplace.
Masters or Doctorate degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering, econometrics, etc.). Must have some academic and theoretical experience in Statistics.

Applied micro-economics/game theory/auction theory, Web Analytics, Mobile Analytics, Mashing up external data with internal data, No SQL Technologies (e.g. Hadoop).
