Linden Lab has an exciting opening for a talented Data Warehouse Engineer who will focus on helping to build and operate our complex metrics logging and data warehouse infrastructure. As a Linden DW engineer, in addition to the traditional ETL and DW architecture skills, you?ll also be expected to have expertise in high volume, real-time logging infrastructure, database optimization, analytical application development, systems design and administration, document stores, distributed data storage, and overall strong opinions about data design. Responsibilities:
Data Engineering - Work with operations and engineering teams to build and operate a very large-scale, complex data warehouse as part of a small, nimble data engineering team. The DE team operates dozens of complex production systems supporting everything from business analytics to real-time fraud mitigation.
Logging Infrastructure - Maintain and improve existing real-time logging infrastructure and evaluate new technologies to meet the needs of fast-moving product teams and the high volumes of data they produce
Warehouse ETL - Build and maintain code to populate our (very big, very fast) Netezza TF12 and MySQL analytical databases with data loaded from production systems. You?ll code in SQL, db stored procedures, python, java, shell, or anything that?s needed to connect complex systems together
Operations Liaison ? Work closely with our ops engineers to quickly assess the impact of production system changes to existing data warehouse processes
Real-time Applications - Build real-time analytical applications using Streambase to provide critical insights to the business and to our residents

Qualifications:
Extensive experience working with large-scale relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) or data warehouse appliances like Netezza. Experience with database administration a plus
Mastery of SQL and relational concepts as well as familiarity with non-relational document store
Advanced coding experience with one or more of the following: shell scripting, python, or perl. Experience with java a plus
Experience with or interest in Hadoop and Hbase
Fluency in Linux; some system admin experience will be useful
Experience with message queues like RabbitMQ and/or working with real-time systems helpful. Experience with Streambase also helpful
Desire to work in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment on really interesting problems
Possess strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively QA own work product to make sure that warehouse data is complete and accurate
Education and Experience:
Bachelor?s Degree in a computer/database related field or equivalent professional experience
5+ years experience of software engineering or database development or administration
